Giovanni Canonica, Barolo Paiagallo, 2017, 750 ml

Shop

A rare and captivating Barolo, produced in tiny quantities by Giovanni Canonica, one of the most artisanal and traditional winemakers in the Langhe. The Paiagallo cru, located just above the town of Barolo, yields wines of great finesse and depth.

Description and characteristics

The 2017 vintage was warm, yet Canonica managed to preserve balance and freshness. The nose reveals crushed red berries, blood orange, rose petals, mint, and cinnamon. On the palate, it is mid-weight, exotic, and seductive, with fine tannins and vibrant minerality. Flavors of leather, truffle, licorice, and sweet spices round out the profile. A wine that blends rustic charm with elegance, and promises excellent aging potential.
