The attraction to the homeland was strong. After leaving San Gimignano, before the Second World War, Aldo Bianchi, returning to Tuscany for a wedding, fell in love with the Castello di Monsanto in 1960, to the point of buying it within a few months. If we add to this the passion for wine of Aldo's son, Fabrizio Bianchi, the picture is complete. It was the latter, in fact, driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, to plant new vineyards and implement, together with his wife Giuliana, the wine business around the Castle of Monsanto.

From 1962, the year of the first harvest, to today, there have been numerous experiments in the vineyard and in the cellar, all aimed at maximum qualitative research and the achievement of perfection in every single detail. This is the DNA of a company whose wines regularly obtain important awards, thanks, first of all, to the passion and emotions that the people involved in the production are able to put into circulation. We are in the province of Florence, near Barberino d'Elsa: this is where the 72 hectares of vineyards owned by the winery meet, in which the Sangiovese variety dominates, the vine in which the company has deeply believed since 'Start. In a small percentage there are also the two historical vines of the Chianti Classico blend: canaiolo and colorino, as well as two other non-native vines: in the Valdigallo vineyard there is the chardonnay with which today "Fabrizio Bianchi" is produced, and in the vineyard Il Mulino we meet cabernet sauvignon. In the seventies the company began renovating the cellar, creating a temperature control system and changing the barrels with Slavonian wood. In the eighties the cellar was ready and work began to build by hand three hundred meters of underground tunnel for the storage of wooden barrels, using only marl stones with the medieval technique of wooden cellars to give shape to a very long and suggestive arch Etruscan. In 1981 the new cellar was ready and a few months later came the first harvest of “Nemo”: a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Il Mulino vineyard. At the end of the Eighties Laura, daughter of Fabrizio, takes over. Today the Cantina Castello Monsanto is synonymous with quality and success, innovation and respect for tradition.
