Maurice Lignier was the architect of the success of the Domaine Lignier Michelot, when in the sixties he began to cultivate vines on the fields inherited from his father. Since then this Domaine has grown in production quality exponentially, so much so that in the 1970s, encouraged by his wife Renée Michelot, Maurice bought and replanted one and a half hectares of vineyard in Morey Saint Denis "En la rue de Vergy", recognized today as one of the best Crus in the area.

From generation to generation, in 2000 the baton passed to his son Virgile who, after studying Oenology at the high school in Beaune, completely restructured the Domaine, with considerable changes made primarily in the cellar techniques (selection of harvested grapes, longer macerations, improvements in refinement) and later in the vineyards (green harvests, soil work, reasoned struggle) to obtain the best possible grapes. But if innovation came with Virgile, the Domaine Lignier Michelot remains faithful to the best tradition of the great vignerons of the area, in which respect for the "terroirs" is more than a philosophy, but an unshakable faith.
